Spring 2022. Email to ASP Customers.
Let me begin with a hearty thank you for waiting patiently while I steered my small pottery business in a new direction.
How things were.
Archana Srinivas Pottery, like many small businesses was impacted by the pandemic.
The local art center where I created and fired my pottery in the community kilns shut down in March 2020.
Frustration, disappointment, helplessness gradually morphed to acceptance and adjustments.
I considered this period of waiting as a creative incubation of sorts.
Gave myself time, surrendered to what was and waited for the universe to arrange things for me.
The words of Katherine May the author of Wintering The power of rest and retreat in difficult times comes to mind.
‘We have seasons when we flourish and seasons when the leaves fall from us, revealing our bare bones. Given time, they grow again.’
The nine months of not working with clay was my Wintering.
How things are.
Eventually I started hand-building using techniques like Kurinuki, coil and slab building in my makeshift studio in our unfinished basement.
In the summer of 2021, as Covid restrictions started easing I found a new community center in another city and started learning and working there. It’s been really wonderful to get back to making pottery again.

Small, Intentional Collections.
This pause gave me the time to think in depth about how I wanted my small pottery business to function.
I am an advocate of slow, meaningful living, I want my handmade creations to reflect that joy and beauty.
Quality over quantity.
Smaller collections representing aesthetics and functionality.
Smaller collections mean more time devoted to enjoying the process of creating rather than rushing through it.
I am happy to offer my hand carved and crafted pottery to you again soon.

Please mark your calendars.
A collection of 8 unique mugs and 15 khulhads

Most of the pots in this batch are fired in the gas kiln, a firing process called reduction firing where the oxygen level is minimal creating the earthy, toasty browns and deep glaze colors.
Here is an in depth preview of the mugs, khulhads and bowls that will be available.
A complete preview will be added on Archana Srinivas Pottery Instagram Stories 24 hours before the Etsy Shop goes live!
Thank you once again.
