Perfection
Perfection. The word lately seem to evoke not so positive responses.
Yes, perfection is an illusion. The unattainable.
So since that state of flawlessness is unachievable, should we just give up and not strive for excellence?
My understanding of the concept while working with clay, has been of learning and perfecting the skill of throwing well, of striving to make the best rim, a great foot, even walls of the pot.
We potters have discussions about how we see so many wonky aesthetics and the concept of imperfection seem to be twisted (no pun intended😜)
My pottery guru’s response always has been - first learn to throw a great pot and then go ahead and alter it.
I would go with perfecting (your skills) Vs. perfection.
Striving for the best you can be as a potter.
