Surface Decoration: Carving

 What is Surface Decoration in ceramics?

Ceramics have two components: Form (Shape) and Surface (of the clay body)

You can bring in interest by adding decorations to the surface of the clay body by using various techniques.

I have been fascinated with Carving or Etching right from the beginning.

Using a carving tool I created freehand zentangle like pattern on the clay at the leather hard stage.

This is after the final firing.
